ORIC International were delighted with the success of the event held on 24 July on operational resilience and cyber risk. Together with our co-hosts, Broadgate Search and PRMIA, we welcomed over 150 risk, cyber and resilience professionals to a highly engaging and informative panel discussion. Guests heard from a variety of experts drawn from the risk, CISO and regulatory communities, and had the opportunity to network with fellow professionals over refreshments after the event.
We were pleased to have an ORIC member on the panel in the shape of Elke Bachler, CISO of Hiscox. Elke made several insightful observations, particularly stressing the need for firms to assess resilience in a wider context than just technology, taking into account all of the factors that need to be considered when planning how to restore and maintain critical business services. Cross-sector industry events such as these are a fantastic opportunity for ORIC to demonstrate the strength of expertise and experience its members bring to the consortium, and we will continue to push for member representation on future panels.

Operational resilience will come increasingly under the microscope as the regulators develop and communicate their expectations of firms, and ORIC is committed to supporting its members as they review and develop their respective approaches. We will hold our next event in Q4, after the regulators’ consultation paper is due to be published, and as we approach Q4 we will be asking members how ORIC can best take this topic forward with, and for, its membership.
