“Opening the black box” of Operational Risk Modelling Training Course

ORIC International are pleased to launch our first training course.   The “Opening the black box” of Operational Risk Modelling training course is a 2 day course that will explore the basics of a wide range of operational risk modelling techniques as well as the market and regulatory environment in which ORIC member firms operate. 

Dates:                   15 – 16 April 2015

Delegate Fee:   £500 + VAT (for the 2 days inclusive)

Location:             Central London

Objectives and Course Outline:

The objective is to give a wide, yet rigorous overview of:

        - The general best practice of operational risk modelling in the Financial Industry, including:

  • LDA
  • Scenario Based Modelling
  • Hybrid Models
  • Factor Models

- The recent evolution of Solvency II for operational risk and the regulatory expectations

- The current avenue of research and promising fields

- The emerging best practices constituting opportunities to grasp for the insurance industry

Please find attached the detailed course outline that will be delivered by two renowned UCL lecturers Ariane Chappell & Gareth Peters.

The course is aimed at risk professionals wish to learn more operational risk modelling.  Please note that this course is not aimed at experienced modellers or actuaries.

As a benefit of being an ORIC member, we are pleased to be able to offer this course at such as reasonable fee.  2 day risk training courses such as this  are normally in the region of £2,000 + VAT or more.

We have a limited number of spaces available on the course (20 in total) and we have had a lot of interest already so please let me know as soon as possible should you wish to book a space.  To register a place on this course, please confirm the name, email and job title of each delegate.  We shall invoice you in the normal manner on receipt of your registration email.

Our speaker for the evening is Bob Scanlon, former Group Chief Credit Officer of Standard Chartered Bank.  He has over 40 years of risk management experience at HSBC, Swiss Bank/ UBS, Credit Suisse and Standard Chartered.  The exact focus of his keynote speech will be influenced by how events in Europe shape up, but Bob will be speaking about how risk managers better prepare for extreme economic situations.
